Police college tv show Empty Police college tv show

Post by Horse Sat Oct 03, 2009 10:03 pm

I remember watching a tv show produced about the training at the college, it was appropriately called police college and aired around the end of 2006. Iam wondering if it's availible on dvd or to watch on the internet?

It's not true to reality. Very sensationalised. As long as you take it with a grain of salt, it's entertaining enough. Police college tv show Icon_cool

I got them free from the Police College last year, sent some blank DVDs to the media liaison person down there with a polite letter and got the series sent back to me. Not sure if they are still doing that. It is sensationalised but still a good watch to see what happens during the course.

That's what I did too, they told me that they are happy to send them out as long as you provide the blank DVDs and a paid, addressed return envelope.

I think it was Katrina Graham, or else addressing it to the Media Liaison Officer would probably also work.

Yes, that's right, Katrina. She is in the college reception block office. Take in (if local) or send in DVD-R discs with a paid return post packet and you will get the 3 disc series in return.
I would offer mine, but they are currently on loan.

On Tuesday, 7.30pm I think, Prime TV, there's 'The Recruits' showing. I don't know if it's new of whether this is the old one.

The program on Prime is an Aussie program, it's quite interesting, but also would seem to be dramatised a bit. Their physical standards seem a bit lower than here in NZ from what we see on TV, but their training is longer (9 months)...

It also looks as though they don't have to do a fitness test prior to being accepted into training. I find it crazy that chap couldn't even run 1Km withought throwing up.

I think NZ has one of the tougher fitness tests around. UK looks very easy (5.1 on beep test, 15M shuttles)

aussie does have lower than nz they base it on a A B C D E pass rate and need to be able to get a C to be able to pass college, they do the beep test at a lower standard then NZ. they also have the same pass rate for push ups etc

That is the NSW Police and is conducted through Goulborn University, and you dont get paid during training, as a matter of fact, I think it costs you.

I understood that you do get paid when training...? From the Newcops site:

The New Zealand police does pay a salary of $37,971 when training, however K.A.L is referring to the NSW police.

And K.A.L is correct in stating that the NSW police receive no salary while at college, and in fact need to pay around $10,000 to recieve there training before being hired.

I sent a letter to Katrina about two weeks ago about obtaining a copy of the show. However i received a letter back today stating that she is on LWOP for until this time next year. The police library does have copies, however the training officers at college have requested that they don't lend them to recruits.

Does anyone have a copy i could borrow? Their is a $20 petrol voucher in it for anyone that can help.

    Cheers
