| | Are there any recruits/applicants out there who have done the reading test recently and can give me an idea of what it is like? Multichoice, short answer, easy, hard etc? Just wondering how much time to put into studying the "Police Recruit Training Programme Pre-Course Study" material for this test. |

| Everyone in different. I'm useless when it comes to maths so I put in a lot of time on that subject but still failed it first time so I had tutoring once a week for my 6 week stand down then flew through the next time. The other two tests, verbal and abstract reasoning I didn't have a problem with at all. Scored very well in those. The biggest killer on the day is nerves and the time ticking down... So many questions so little time. They are all multi choice. _________________ ALWAYS BLOW ON THE PIE! |

| | Sorry, I was meaning the reading test, not the academic tests. This one is done after studying the material they give you at about SCOPE time. Whole range of stuff, half of it out of date ranging from Police history, to legal system and police ethics and values. There is a bit to read and just wondering how much I needed to study for it. |

| Ahhh. Read front to back a couple of times. You should be fine. That test is also multi choice. I forget what you have to score on that. Maybe 25/28? I studied it like my life depended on it. It went everywhere with me.... I realised that was overkill when I saw the test Obviously can't give anything away about the actual test though. You'll be fine. _________________ ALWAYS BLOW ON THE PIE! |

| Dont sign it! Don't you just love it, sign this form to say you have read and understand it, and oh yeah, in about 6 months we will have a training session to explain what it means. |

no option but to sign it, cause if you dont, then yr supervisor must sit you down, read it to you and they sign of a form to confirm they did this. personally, dont see an issue signing that document... _________________ A man is not honest simply because he never had a chance to steal |

| I was like you ZE and read the pre course back to front for about a month, at lunchtimes, smokos and at night until I just couldnt read it anymore because I knew it all verbatim and I was going slightly mad.
I got 27 right but there are a couple of ambiguous ones in there to catch you out which is what happened to me. I think you have to get 20 out of 28 to pass.
I wouldnt be too complacent about just skimming through it, but you can of course do the test as many times as you like before going up to college. |
