I was just wondering if any of you cops out there are also volunteer firefighters as this would be something i would be really keen on doing (the vollies out Te Puke do an amazing job as im sure the rest of you do as well.)

If you are a Police Officer and a Volunteer Firefighter how does it fit in with the shift work and your personal life, meaning by doing both do you still have a personal life?

If no one here is both a cop and a firefighter do you think it would be possible with the hours police work?

There are 3 of us at my station who are cops and vollie fire fighters and one of the Sgt's is keen to join up again. (He used to be a vollie)

You can't attend calls whilst working of course and I have a rule not to go to any calls 2 hours before shift start but asides from that the boss is happy for us to do both.

every volly station would be keen for new members. Im sure a cop would be ideal as they experience some of the stuff anyway. Id suggest that the shift work fits in will with it as it means that you are sometimes available during times of the day when crews are short..

I'd be keen on that...have aboslutely no idea how it would work with present job and my family, but I think it would be cool.

Course, I'd have to slow down if they let me drive...
