Now I am not an expert in this area, however I believe that the alleged speed would be determined by the time it takes you to travel from point A to B.
That would be determined using a satellite somewhere up there in space.
I am quite confident that the NZP have not sent anyone up in the space shuttle to verify that the satellite is a correctly calibrated speed detection device.
If it aint certified and I get a ticket or prosecuted then I reckon the prosecutor would be hard pressed to prove the speed beyond reasonable doubt.

| | basic maths really. GPS systems are reasonably acurate now, and even if they arent, the time taken from point a to point b is still acurate and the system knows what that distance is and this is easily converted into a speed.. |

| The Ambo's have AVL and in comms you can bring up the vehicle on the screen and see it's GPS location and speed. Its not a constant speed reading tho - it only updates every minute or so... I'm not aware of anyone who has ever been pulled up about it and I know people do go quite fast sometimes, but when the system occasionally gives a reading of 250kmh or something, they can't rely 100% on it... (250kmh in a van - yeah right! Haha) Anyway... Back on topic - police cars, I'd be keen to see these in the central city:

| I wish I'd had a camera for a photo - but the other night me and my partner were on patrol in the central city, when suddenly the radar lets us know an oncoming vehicle is oncoming at 218km...but there was nothing there! _________________

I remember a story about a english cop who locked on to two fighters over the english channel by accident. Long story short, the fighter locked on to his radar and if the pilot had realised that it wasnt a threat he would have blasted him. _________________ =======> Do not believe a single word Backalley says <=======
